Years ago, major food companies promised to meet meaningful animal welfare standards by 2024 to eliminate the worst chicken cruelty in their operations. But some chains—including White Castle, TGI Fridays, and Le Pain Quotidien—have failed to be transparent about their progress toward this goal.
