A devastating investigation reveals thousands of dead birds being transported from a factory egg farm to nearby fields to be buried. These animals were inhumanely killed en masse, or “depopulated,” because of a bird flu outbreak at the farm.

Rather than reform the meat industry to prevent outbreaks at factory farms, the federal government is using taxpayer dollars to attempt to control the spread of the virus.

Factory farms are hot spots for disease. While corporations cut corners to make as much money as possible, animals, workers, and communities pay the price.

The U.S. food system needs reform. The Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act (IAA), legislation requiring corporations to take responsibility for the pandemic risk they cause, is necessary to prevent the cruel depopulation of countless farmed animals and to protect human health.

Call on your members of Congress to pass the IAA.

The current bird flu outbreak is incredibly concerning, and as your constituent, I respectfully request that you cosponsor the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act (IAA; H.R. 805 / S.272) and hold corporations responsible for the pandemic risks they create.

As you know, the bird flu outbreak is progressing rapidly, with new developments and details daily. The federal government must act before we have an even more serious public health threat on our hands.

The IAA offers critical solutions to our current situation. It would require big agribusinesses to take responsibility and work to address public health threats that are inherent to the system that they built and benefit from.

Please support the IAA and ensure its important provisions are included in the upcoming Farm Bill.
