The Food Security and Farm Protection Act was recently introduced in the Senate. Except for the name, this dangerous bill is identical to the controversial Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act from the last Congress. Its goal is to wipe out state laws that ban the sale of eggs or meat from animals kept in extreme confinement.

Just like the EATS Act, this legislation directly responds to animal protection successes like California’s Prop 12. Please join Mercy For Animals in opposing this dangerous legislation.

As your constituent, I respectfully request that you oppose the Food Security and Farm Protection Act (S. 1326) and any language like it. Except for the name, this dangerous bill is identical to the controversial Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act from the last Congress. Just like the EATS Act, this legislation directly responds to animal protection successes like California’s Prop 12.

This bill, regardless of its name, is an attack on state rights. It would undo existing state and local legislation, including protections for farmed animals. The federal government should not undermine state rights, and S. 1326 aims to do just that.

Animal welfare is a top priority for me as a voter. As such, I urge you to oppose the Food Security and Farm Protection Act.
