Chickens raised for meat are often subjected to appalling suffering caused by inhumane breeding practices, cramped living conditions, and cruel slaughter methods.

Six years ago, Subway committed to banning some of the worst cruelty affecting chickens in their supply chain by 2024. The company also promised to provide updates toward this goal. Despite this, Subway has failed to report progress.
