I′m writing to express my sincere support for H.R. 404, the Driftnet Modernization and Bycatch Reduction Act of 2021. This legislation is necessary to end the use of large-mesh driftnets that are cruel to fish and devastate marine wildlife, including whales, dolphins, seals, and turtles. Despite the availability of less harmful types of fishing equipment, and despite the leadership that states have taken to end this practice, these destructive driftnets continue to entangle and drown large numbers of marine animals.

Creating a more sustainable food system is one of my highest priorities as your constituent, and as such, I respectfully urge you to vote in favor of H.R. 404.
