Your Help Is Needed to Ban Foie Gras Cruelty in Portland

NOTHING NEEDED HERE

Foie gras, what some consider a “luxury food,” is produced by force-feeding ducks and geese so their livers grow abnormally large. The process is one of the most traumatic forms of animal cruelty. Birds suffer severe illness and injuries as they are force-fed two or three times a day to the verge of death. In fact, they would die if they weren’t slaughtered at just a few months old. Mercy For Animals has investigated foie gras production, exposing the abuse these poor birds endure.

Opposed by veterinarians and animal welfare experts around the world, foie gras production is so cruel it has been outlawed in more than a dozen countries, the state of California, and New York City.
